Sunnylands Third Sunday: Sculpture Taking Place: Cast, Carve, Combine
In the past fellow artist and friends of CVAC have sculpted on site and exhibited their work at Sunnylands. The Sunnylands Third Sunday: Sculpture Taking Place: Cast, Carve, Combine is an interactive day focused on sculpture, wander the Sunylands gardens and view local sculptors at work.
This event is part of Sunnylands Family Day Series, it is Free for all ages and typically scheduled for 9:30 am -2:00 pm. Fellow CVAC artist Patrick Blythe can be seen sculpting on site, this is a great opportunity to see Patrick's work and learn about his process as well as all forms of sculpture. Patrick works in bronze, glass and stone. His sculpture Harvest can be seen on exhibition on El-Paseo as part of the Art Walk installations.
Karen Riley of the Scrap Gallery also hosts crafts.Karen is a close friend and board member of CVAC. She Collaborates with CVAC on various projects, some of the Scrap Gallery's creations can be seen on display throughout the space. As founder of the Scrap Gallery Karen works with children of all ages on reusing, recycling and repurposing materials that would otherwise be considered garbage into works of art. Scrap gallery participates by hosting on site arts & crafts projects for children. The Scrap Gallery will also be exhibiting a new sculpture piece created by local High School students after they were inspired by a rare viewing of Harry Bertoia's work and participated in a creative session with Celia Bertoia, the artist's daughter.
