Stacey Campbell received a BFA from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena California. While in art school she started using copper as surface for her work. Life-sized oil portraits on copper gave way to smaller work which reflected her infatuation with the Surrealist movement. 25 of these works, spontaneous writing and drawing on sheets of copper, were shown at Last Exit in Brooklyn, a cafe in the Seattle area.
Financial needs required that Stacey find a full-time job and she found her way into the book industry. She worked at various independent bookstores around the country, managed a bookstore in Madison, Wisconsin for several years & worked as a sales rep for the University of Chicago Press. Creation of artwork happened in fits and spurts during those years and even less when she returned to school to get an MBA.
With significant changes in the book industry Stacey felt it was time for a change. In late 2013 she took a leap of faith and quit her job to become a full-time art teacher and professional artist. She exhibits her work throughout the Coachella Valley and teaches at Coachella Valley Art Center, Venus Studios Art Supply and Desert Art Center.
